Baillie Gifford trust nets 20.4% rise

EDINBURGH Worldwide Investment Trust yesterday posted a 20.4 per cent rise in its net asset value for the six months to 30 April.

The trust – which is managed by Baillie Gifford and has total assets of 175.6 million – said its benchmark MSCI All Countries World Index rose by 17.1 per cent in sterling terms over the same period.

Equity turnover of 21 per cent in the period was higher than usual, the trust added.

Four new holdings were bought in the past six months, consisting of CFAO, Intuitive Surgical, MedAssets and Flir Systems.

The purchases were funded through sales of Canon, Inspur and Walgreen.

The interim dividend was held steady at 0.5p.
