Amazon deal books recruiter into UK

AN IRISH recruitment firm is expanding into Scotland after landing a major contract to supply staff for Amazon’s new call centre in Edinburgh.

Expect Talent is also opening an office in London as part of its push into the UK market.

The Cork-based company, which was founded in 2005 by managing director Samantha Rathling, specialises in finding large numbers of both permanent and temporary workers for call centres. The firm also has an office in Dublin.

Expect Talent’s expansion into the UK has been supported by a £250,000 invoice financing deal with Clydesdale Bank, under which the lender will “buy” unpaid bills from the firm for less than their face value and then chase payments.

Rathling said the company is on course to double its turnover this year to more than £3.4 million.

She said: “We have always had strong ambitions to grow the company in the UK and so it was a real coup for us to secure a major contract in Scotland earlier this year.

“Since the business was set up six years ago, we have gone from strength to strength and we are eager to build upon our success by extending our operations in the UK and opening offices in London and Scotland. In the next five years, we have a strategy in place, which will see our current turnover treble in size as we grow the business internationally.”

Simon Kerr, managing partner at Clydesdale Bank’s “financial solutions centre” in Edinburgh, added: “It is a real pleasure for the bank to extend its support to Expect Talent – a dynamic company that is renowned for its professionalism and for the quality of candidates it sources for businesses across the region.

“The company’s directors have strong yet realistic ambitions for business growth over the medium term and it is this kind of growth the bank is pleased to assist.”
