Alienation sends out statement of intent as Mitchell joins the board

FORMER Scottish Premier League (SPL) chief executive Roger Mitchell was yesterday unveiled as the latest signing by online marketing agency Alienation Digital.

Mitchell – who is based in Italy and has worked for companies such as BSkyB, EMI and HSBC – will join the board of
the Glasgow-based website design firm as a non-executive director.

Since resigning from the SPL in 2002 after failing to introduce a league-owned television station, Mitchell has set up Albachiara, which advises media, technology and telecommunications companies on their strategies.

Revenues at Alienation – which lists Gazprom, Holiday Inn Express and IBM among its clients – broke through the £1 million barrier for the first time in the year to 31 March, up from £778,000 in the previous 12 months. The firm’s pre-tax profits were just shy of £142,000, up from £107,000.

Managing director Neil Barr, who founded the agency in 1997, said: “By attracting Roger Mitchell to our board, I believe we are making a very strong statement about our future.”

The company is also looking to increase the amount of business it wins from customers in Europe and the United States after sending head of innovation Hadrien Jouet to California’s “Silicon Valley” for a six-month secondment.
