The Glasgow-based group said Nicolas Fournier will become managing director of its power solutions arm on 2 November.

His appointment follows a shake-up of Aggreko’s structure announced by chief executive Chris Weston in June, which saw the firm’s three regional divisions replaced by two separate businesses.

The new rental solutions unit incorporates its power and temperature control equipment operations in the developed markets of Europe, North America and Australia Pacific, while its power solutions arm focuses on developing economies and includes its large-scale temporary power plants business, which has customers across the military, mining and oil industries.

Fournier has more than 25 years’ experience in different industries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Weston, the former British Gas boss who took the helm at Aggreko at the start of the year after Rupert Soames left to run outsourcing group Serco, said: “Nicolas has relevant experience in emerging markets and the industrial sector in particular, which combined with his leadership skills and ability to drive improved business performance will bring further expertise to Aggreko.”
