Aggreko boss Weston unveils board shake-up

The new chief executive of generator hire specialist Aggreko has announced a board shake-up in a bid to improve efficiencies at the Glasgow-based group.

Chris Weston, the former boss of British Gas, said the boardroom overhaul comes amid a new organisational structure for the temporary power firm.

From the beginning of August, Aggreko’s three regional divisions – Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) – will be replaced by two units focusing on developed and emerging markets.

As a result, Asterios Satrazemis, currently regional director for Americas, will become president of the rental solutions business based in the US.

The power solutions division, aimed at developing markets, will be run by Weston until a permanent leader is found.

Debajit Das, regional director for Asia Pacific, and EMEA regional director David Taylor-Smith will be stepping down from the board after helping with the transition to the new structure.

Weston, who will give more details about Aggreko’s strategy when he delivers first-half results on 6 August, said: “As part of this process, we have taken the decision to reorganise the business to be as efficient and as effective as we can be for our customers and our markets.”
