Absoft makes a move overseas

ABSOFT, the Aberdeen-based software supplier and consultancy, has made its first push overseas as it looks to tap into Scandinavia’s energy sector.

The firm, which plans to grow its 110-strong headcount to 175 over the next three years, said yesterday it was creating a base in Stavanger, Norway.

It has chosen the location to launch its international assault due to the “close proximity to the UK and similarities in the way the industry and business operates”.

Absoft – founded in 1991 – said it would pursue an “aggressive growth strategy” in the oil exploration and production hub. The move marks a second key step in its expansion plan following the acquisition of English firm Hexarus Consulting earlier this year.
