60 start-ups lined up for investor showcase

SIXTY of Scotland’s brightest start-ups have been selected to showcase their technology at this year’s investor forum organised by Informatics Ventures.

They will exhibit their products at the annual Engage Invest Exploit (EIE) forum, to be held at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms on 8 May – the only showcase of its kind to bring Scottish start-ups and university spinouts in front of investors from around the world.

EIE14 is being run in conjunction with the Scottish Inv­estment Bank, Edinburgh BioQuarter and the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation. The guest speaker is Sir Brian Souter.

Gordon Stuart, of Informatics Ventures, said that early-stage funding works well in Scotland but warned that the next phase of supporting companies needs attention. “We sometimes miss out when it comes to funding the next level of growth,” he said.
