Ayrshire butchery business extends Asda supply deal with ‘cleaner’ alternative to doner kebab

Ayrshire butchery business We Hae Meat has secured a new contract to supply a trio of its products to Asda stores across Scotland.

The latest deal will see the firm supply the supermarket giant with its lamb doner slices, skinny black pudding slices and skinny steak lorne block.

The company began trading from its butcher shop in Girvan before winning its first retail deal with Asda in 2008. Since then, it has grown its relationship with the retailer and now supplies ten products across 60 stores north of the Border.

Carlyn Paton, managing director at We Hae Meat, said: “The lamb doner slices were created to offer customers a ‘cleaner’ alternative to doner kebab meat, which is also microwaveable for convenience. The skinny black pudding slices and the skinny steak lorne block were developed to give shoppers a low-fat choice for Scottish breakfast products, without compromising on taste. As farmers as well as butchers, we offer full farm to fork traceability.

“It’s been a great year for us working with Asda and we are delighted to offer our new products to their shoppers.”

Heather Turnbull, Asda’s regional buying manager for Scotland added: “Our relationship with We Hae Meat has gone from strength to strength over the years, and it’s been wonderful to see the company grow with us.

“We’re very proud to introduce three new lines to shelves across Scotland from a local supplier and we know our shoppers are going to love the tasty alternatives.”

The three new products are available in stores now.
