What Matters To Me: Gaby Roslin, presenter

GABY Roslin on why she’d invite Bradley Cooper to dinner, and why working at Harrods was not an experience to treasure

Who would attend your fantasy dinner party?

Oprah Winfrey, the Obamas, Julie Walters, Miranda Hart, Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela and Bradley Cooper, so we could just look at him. I’d cook Thai salmon, steamed broccoli and quinoa. Ice-cream for pudding.

Whom did you last text?

My other half, David, to ask if he’d be home for supper tonight.

It’s not cool but...

I love EastEnders.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My parents told me to follow my dreams.

What’s the worst job you ever had?

Hide Ad

I had jobs in retail from 15 upwards and hated it in Harrods, where I was one of the people who spray aftershave. It was such an unfriendly place and I didn’t like the drama students I had to work alongside.

Who is your favourite fictional character?

Alice in Wonderland.

What are you afraid of? I’m not mad about rats.

Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it and why?

Gab or Gabs. When I was on The Big Breakfast, Chris Evans used to call me Gabmeister.

What situations make you lose your temper?

Bad drivers.

If you could choose a profession that you would like to try, what would that be? Why?

Psychotherapist, because I’m fascinated by people.

What food or drink is always in your fridge?

Yoghurt drinks, because the kids love them. Also, sparkling water and organic vegetables, salad and fruit.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go?

I’d love to experience London in the late Fifties, for the post-war atmosphere.

Saturday night or Sunday morning?

Sunday morning, as I get up at 3:45am for my radio show on weekdays.

Who is the love of your life?

My family.
