Video: Watch the new World War Z trailer

A NEW trailer for zombie horror film World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, has been unveiled.

Loosely based on a Max Brooks’ 2003 book of the same name, World War Z follows UN employee Gerry Read (Pitt) as he searches for answers to an outbreak decimating the world’s population.

Shifting away from the traditionally slow zombie hordes favoured by George Romero, the new trailer reaffirms World War Z’s remit as a pulse-quickening action thriller.

Dramatic footage of the undead swarming vehicles, buildings and other people are interspersed with hints about the impact of the disease, with a bodycount of billions.

The trailer also offers some insight into the story, suggesting that the outbreak may have started in Russia, but it’s the set pieces that really impress - including one of a passenger flight descending into utter chaos.

The film was partially shot in Glasgow in 2011, as George Square and surrounding areas were remodelled to look like Philadelphia.

Directed by Marc Forster, the film will be released on June 21.
