Under the Radar: Zoe Graham

When Zoe Graham applied to play our Wide Days showcase it was immediately apparent that we were listening to a special artist, not least because her songs had the effect of making everyone in our noisy office stop and listen. In particular, the title track of her Hacket & Knackered EP (http://bit.ly/UTRZoeGraham) boasts a warm, casual brilliance which makes it the perfect soundtrack for a relaxing summer's day.

Graham clearly has broad appeal, with early champions ranging from Celtic Connections to King Tut’s booker Chris Beltran, and she’s sure to pick up new fans in the coming weeks, too, with live appearances at the Song From Northern Britain Festival in Stockton-on-Tees on Saturday, the Glad Café in Glasgow on 17 May, Glasgow’s West End Festival on 24 June and a showcase at XpoNorth in Inverness on 27 and 28 June.

The Hidden Door Festival takes place at the Leith Theatre and the State Cinema, Edinburgh, from 25 May until 3 June, featuring performances from Young Fathers, Sylvan Esso, Nadine Shah, Admiral Fallow, Submotion Orchestra, Romare, Dream Wife, C Duncan and many more, plus theatre, film, dance, visual art and spoken word.
