Thursday, 3pm

Check in at the four-star deluxe Punta Tragara (Via Tragara 57, Capri; tel: 081 8370844, www.hoteltragara.com). Sip a prosecco on your balcony while admiring the view of iconic offshore crags I Faraglioni.

7pm

Stroll down to Capri’s lively Piazzetta for an aperitivo, then dinner at Aurora (Via Fuorlavodo 18­22, Capri; tel: 081 8370181, www.auroracapri.com), around €60 for two, with wine.

Friday, 11am

Visit the clifftop ruins of Villa Jovis, holiday retreat of tyrannical 1st-century emperor Tiberius.

Midday

Ride the funicular to Marina Grande for lunch by the sea at Ristorante L’Approdo (Piazza Angelo Ferraro 12; tel: 081 837 8990, approdocapri.com).

2pm

Take a spin in one of Capri’s classic open-topped taxis, then visit Villa San Michele (www.villsanmichele.eu).

8pm

Enjoy spaghetti alle vongole at La Cappanina (Viale Botteghe 12; tel: 081 837 0732, www.cappanina­capri.com), just off the Piazzetta.

Saturday, 8:30am

Catch a boat from Grotto Azzurra jetty to visit Capri’s famous attraction. If you’re unlucky, your boatman will sing.

11am

Whet your appetite with a swim at Beach Club Il Riccio (Capri Palace Hotel, ViaCapodimonte 14; tel: 081 978 0111) before lunch there, three courses with wine cost from around €60.

5pm

Ride the chairlift from Via Caposcuro to the top of Monte Solaro for the island’s best view, with Vesuvius on the horizon.

8pm

Dine at laid­back Trattoria Mamma (Via Chiusarano 6, Anacapri; tel: 081 837 2057), where the accent is on solid pasta dishes.

Sunday, 7:30am

Check out for your ferry to Naples and flight home.
