What Matters to Me: Clare Buckfield, actor

Who would attend your fantasy dinner party? Judy Garland, as she is a legend; Stephen Fry; Tommy Cooper for the laughs and conversation; Stevie Wonder to sing and entertain us all, and God, simply to ask, how?

• Whom did you last text? My partner Dan to see if he got back OK.

• It’s not cool but... I love to get ready to go out while listening to Tom Jones’s version of Kiss.

• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever had? Failure to prepare = prepare to fail.

• What’s the worst job you ever had? I was a waitress for a while and naturally clumsy I didn’t fare so well.

• Who is your favourite fictional character? It would have to be Disney’s Ariel the Little Mermaid.

• What are you afraid of? The dark and ghosts.

• Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it and why? Clarey or Clareybelle.

• What situations make you lose your temper? Anyone who is rude or impatient with the older generation makes me angry.

• If you could choose a profession that you would like to try, what would that be? Why? An author, as I love writing and constantly read. I would love to give someone the chance to escape into one of my books and get totally engrossed as much as I can with literature.

• If you could travel back in time, where would you go? I would love to be a Greek goddess and have a great power.

• Saturday night or Sunday morning? I love Saturday night, but appreciate a lazy Sunday with an egg sandwich, the papers and a nice pot of tea.

• Who or what is the love of your life? If I don’t say my man I’ll get killed, so of course he is, along with my family and our dog.
