Theatre review: The Mungo Boys, Lauriston Halls (Venue 163), Edinburgh

AMIDST the congested Fringe programme, this amateur production by no means stands out. For its true audience, however – the friends and family of those featured – there seems to be a great deal of enjoyment.

The Mungo Boys

Lauriston Halls
(Venue 163)

Star rating: * *

It has its roots in a true story, a tale of six school friends who attended Glasgow’s St Mungo’s Academy in 1968, whose band and friendships fragmented just as they were on the verge of a break.

Current students from the school play the boys, the men themselves are reunited at the end, and this spirited audio-visual musical receives plenty of laughs from those who recognise the players and stories.

• Until today, 7pm.
