Review: Salvi and the Box of Dreams, Hill Street Theatre (Venue 41)

Not that any of the children in the audience will spot them, but this show from Hinge Productions is peppered with references to Salvador Dali. In particular, his 1944 painting Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, the content of which is played out before us.**

Despite a nice central message about following your dreams, the show tries to shoehorn too much physicality into the story, which ends up looking superfluous and unnecessarily complicated, while too little is made of the gloriously-lit box of dreams.

Until 26 August. Today 10:30am.
