Review: Me Before Marilyn, theSpace @ Jury’s Inn (Venue 260)

The company behind this too-short resume of Marilyn Monroe’s life when she was just plain old Norma Jeane Baker can be forgiven for not capturing the actress’ resonant star quality, with Lucy Snowden probably wise to play the part using her own English accent.

The staging and performances are clearly amateur though, and the material is short on substance, with lean reminiscences from Monroe, her first husband, James Dougherty, and other old friends padded out with lengthy and inconsequential silent movie reels of the cast in character. Sadly a lot of it feels make-do.

Until today, 4:10pm.
