Review: Excuse me, I’m trying to please you, Zoo Southside (Venue 82)

Few performers claim that by the end of their show we’ll all be on “pleasure level ten”.

Star rating: * *

Writer/performer Fiona Paul proposes to do this via character comedy – the cookery judge from Port Talbot Women’s Institute, a tactless Scouse mother-in-law, a glamour model who wants to be known for her intellect – and occasional songs (she has a fine voice).

But the material, while competent enough, fails to spark euphoria. By the end, her audience were rather lower down the scale.

Until 27 August. Today 3:20pm.
