Review: Bugsy Malone, C Too, Johnston Terrace

THIS clumsy rendition of Bugsy Malone will have you tittering from beginning to end – if not at the storyline then at the haphazard delivery and well-recovered faux pas. **

The singing might not be up to much but hats off to these kids for mastering their gangster accents and, in particular, Tallulah for her spot-on Southern drawl. The star of the show is undoubtedly Fat Sam, who actually holds it all together – with a little help from Bugsy and Dandy Dan.

The set is basic, the costumes cobbled together and, if you’ll pardon the pun, the splurge guns are a little hit and miss.

You’ve probably seen better school shows but if there’s something this theatrical performance will give you, it’s a great big smile on your face.

Despite any misgivings about the show, we challenge you not to love it all the same.
