Review: Book of Splendor, Summerhall

After a witty and encouraging start, this new work from award-winning Polish theatre company, neTTheatre, takes a steady dive downhill.*

Although we’re provided with surtitles above the stage, the words themselves (taken from Kabbalah literature) make little sense, and the on-stage action does little to clear the fog.

Left alienated, confused and frankly, bored, those audience members who didn’t make a break for it when they could endured 90 minutes of theatrical hell. “Hear my words!” a performer screeches over and over and over. No thank you.

Until 13 August. Today 9pm.
