Dance review: Briefs, Underbelly, Bristo Square

BEAUTIFUL men in pants is a pretty good premise for a show in my book. Briefs features six of Australia’s finest, kitted out in an array of sequinned knickers, strutting their stuff to a thumping pop soundtrack.

The group formed three years ago and are now bringing their camp blend of circus, cabaret and stilettos to audiences everywhere.

Their talents are stunning. We have a tattooed aerial acrobat, a sinewy hula-hoop artist, a geeky plate spinner, a strong man, a tantalising strip tease, a bucket of high-energy dance routines, a raffle (!) and more muscled chests than you could shake a stick at. Host Shivvanah knits the show together with an endearingly eager-for-approval series of costume changes, slipping into ever more impossible heels as the show goes on. A great bet for a late-night hour of fun and frolics to round off your evening.
