The harbour itself is being transformed to look like it would have in the 1700s as the town joins the growing list of locations used for filming parts of the series, dubbed Scotland’s answer to Game of Thrones.

Numerous barrels have been brought in with film crews preparing the harbour for filming, due to start on Monday next week.

Dysart officials are hopeful that the interest sparked by the filming will boost the town’s attraction as a tourist destination.

Earlier this month, masses of Outlander fans travelled to the Fife town of Culross, which doubles the village of Cairnsmuir in Diana Gabaldon’s novels.

Filming has already taken place at Balgonie Castle, Aberdour Castle, Doune Castle, Blackness, Stirling and Falkland.

Some scenes on board a tall ship have already been filmed off the coast of Troon, on Scotland’s west coast.

The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore has been used to film some scenes in the Mackenzie village while Pollok Country Park and even Glasgow’s George Square have also featured in the series.
