The St Kilda Swim Team are short-listed in the Team of the Year and Public Vote categories after successfully completing the 60-mile swim in August. Three previous attempts had been postponed because of bad weather and high seas. The feat took 35 hours and has raised more than £21,500 for four charities. It was recognised through Early Day Motions tabled in the Scottish Parliament by MSP Rhoda Grant, and in Westminster by MP Marion Fellows.

And the team is now in competition with six other adventure groups in the National Adventure Awards which celebrate the very best of adventure across England, Wales and Scotland.

Swim Team captain Colin Macleod said: “The St Kilda Swim Team are delighted to be shortlisted for the National Adventure Awards, but we’re definitely feeling like the underdogs when you see what some of the other teams have done.
