SCOTTISH actress Rose Leslie has called her first nude scene on hit TV show Game of Thrones “very beautiful”, defending it against claims it was gratuitous.

Ms Leslie, 25, from Aberdeen, stripped off in an Icelandic geyser with co-star Kit Harington for an intimate scene in temperatures that dipped to -26C.

The actress plays Ygritte, a tribe leader from North of the Wall, who attempts to seduce Harington - Jon Snow in the series - to test his loyalty to her and the Wildings.

“It was completely necessary,” said Leslie of the scene. “It’s a very beautiful scene and nice things don’t happen very often on the show.

“These characters are in their own little bubble, so to speak. It’s just two people falling in love. It’s very beautiful.”

Harington, also 25, said: “There are promises you are made on film sets about water being warm. You know it’s gonna be cold. But they made a lovely warm bath for us.”
