Price for rare Sir Sean poem rises to £6,500

THE seller of a rare signed poem penned by Sir Sean Connery has increased the sale price by £5,500 to donate to a charity of which the James Bond star is a trustee.

As previously reported in the Evening News, the verse was written by the Hollywood legend in 1955 before he hit the big time while he was a young actor in a touring production of South Pacific.

It is being sold on an online auction site for 6,500 – after originally going on sale for just under 1,000 – to allow for a donation of 4,225 to the Scottish International Education Trust.

The poem is said to have been penned by Sir Sean seven years before he landed the 007 role in dedication to a Leeds guesthouse landlady named Mrs Hawksbridge who had looked after him.
