In pictures: Sony World Photography Awards winners

THE winners of the Sony World Photography Awards Open, 3D and Youth categories have been announced.

In addition to receiving a Sony A77, all category winners will have their work exhibited at Somerset House in London, and their images will be featured in the Sony World Photography Awards book.

The winners of further categories, including Professional, Overall Open and Outstanding Contribution to Photography will be announced later this year.

Open category

The Open category, which saw almost 55,000 entries, is judged on a single photograph taken by an amateur.

The ten winners announced today will now compete for the title of Open Photographer of the Year, which comes with a prize of $5,000. The winner of this award will be revealed on 25 April.

• Enhanced - Hoang Hiep Nguyen, Vietnam

• Low Light - Elmar Akhmetov, Kazakhstan

• Nature & Wildlife - Krasimir Matarov, Bulgaria

• Panoramic - Yeow Kwang Yeo, Singapore

• People - Hisatomi Tadahiko, Japan

• Smile – Ming Hui Guan (Mac Kwan), China

• Split Second - Matías Gálvez, Chile

• Travel - Manny Fajutag, Philippines

Youth category

The Youth category is open to young photographers, aged 19 and under. An overall Youth Photographer of the Year will be selected from the three winners. The title will be revealed at the gala ceremony on 25 April.

• Environment - Xu Wei Shou, Taiwan

• Portraits- Berta Vicente, Spain

3D category

There was only one winner in this category. Matjaž Tančič is a Slovenian 3D fashion photographer who has had his work featured across the world.

His winning entrance to the Sony World Photography Awards was entitled ‘Time Keeper’.
