Pick of the Club Nights

Mondo LocoCabaret Voltaire, Blair Street, tomorrow, 10pm-3am, £6, 0131-247 4704

TOMORROW, head to Cabaret Voltaire for Mondo Loco’s latest charity fund raiser - a night of house music that hopes to make an impact on the other side of the globe.

While Mondo Loco had its pick of DJs from around the local club scene, all offering their services for free, this time around it has gone for proper house music.

In the main room, Phunkd’up’s Neil Crookston provides the opening set before Mondo Loco favourite Coco McHale hands over the wheels to Michael and Robin (Mondo Loco, Karnival) for their first ever headline set in The Cab.

Meanwhile, Damon Melvin and Kevin Buchanan, both of Get To Funk and We Play House, will be funking up the back room for Taste Legends Steven Wanless and Martin Valentine.

Profits from the night go to the Link Community Development, which aims to improve the quality of education in Africa.

Paul Glynn of the Mondo Loco Foundation explains, “The Mondo Loco Foundation was founded on the back of a fundraising campaign for the Malawi Bike Ride with Link Community Development in July.

“It started with a beach party on April 29. The club was launched in July at The Lane with two further nights before moving venue.

“When I was in Malawi doing work with schools, the biggest issue I picked up on was the lack of opportunity at every level. Opportunities we take for granted.

“Kids pass all their exams and can’t afford to go to college, this is where Mondo Loco’s scholarship scheme comes in.
