Outdoors: Out and About

Head for heights

Better begin building those layers of winter clothing now if you plan to attend this weekend's WinterFest 2010. Held in and around Glen Affric, this event consists of outdoor survival skills tutorials, guided high-level walks, low-level walks and even a night walk guided by glo-sticks. Expect spectacular views, intriguing glimpses of wildlife and, one imagines, a fairly high beard count.

Visit Crombie Country Park by Monikie tomorrow afternoon for a Ranger-guided walk. Starting at 1pm, the gentle, two-hour stroll will focus on spotting examples of winter wildlife. Booking essential, tel: 01241 860360.

Ready, steady, go
