Lorraine Kelly to be honoured at Scottish Baftas

Bafta Scotland has confirmed the award for Kelly, just weeks after she celebrated 30 years in broadcasting.

The 54-year-old – who will be recognised for an “outstanding contribution to television” – will return to her home city of Glasgow for the ceremony, which has seen the likes of Billy Connolly and Kirsty Wark honoured in recent years.

The film and TV industry’s annual showpiece north of the Border will see the likes of James McAvoy and Peter Mullan battle for major honours.

Kelly started her career on the East Kilbride News before getting a job as a researcher with BBC Scotland in 1983.

She joined ITV the following year as a Scottish affairs reporter for fledgling breakfast venture TV-am, going on to help launch GMTV and Good Morning Britain.

Kelly said: “It was a lovely and totally unexpected surprise to be told I was to receive such a prestigious award.

“I’m delighted and looking forward to a terrific evening.”
