The King may be dead but his sound lives on

Relive the King of Rock 'n Roll's glittering career and live stage shows with Elvis on Tour - the 75 Special, celebrating what would have been his 75th year.

Featuring the multi-award winning Steve 'Hollywood' Halliday as a young Elvis and Michael 'Memphis' King, with support from a live orchestra and backing singers, the production showcases the history of Elvis and the atmosphere of an America gripped by a man who was to permanently change the face of its popular culture.

Featuring his songs, costume and video footage, the show revolves around the king's life story and his fusion of R&B, gospel and country music that makes him so special.

The show includes more than two hours of the best performances from Elvis' own concert touring years, during which he performed more than 1100 shows, showcasing songs from 'The Las Vegas Opening Night 1969', Elvis' two award-winning film documentaries That's The Way It Is and Elvis On Tour and the famous Aloha From Hawaii Telecast Concert.

"I always say there is an Elvis song for every occasion in life," says King, ahead of Tuesday's show at the Edinburgh Playhouse. "Whether it be a celebration or one of life's many trials and tribulations, Elvis is always there with the right song every time. This is why I believe that once you are an Elvis fan, the older you get, the more of an Elvis fan you become due to the association of his music with your own personal experiences."

As an added bonus the show also incorporates songs from Elvis' studio recordings made during the years 1969 - 1977. From the 'Nashville Sessions 1969' to the hits recorded at Elvis' home Graceland down in the 'Jungle Room.'

Capitvating audiences from ages eight to 80, the popularity of the king lives on for those who grew up with the music, as well as those who were there to witness it.

Authenticity is important to the show's creators, who have enlisted Las Vegas Icon Award Winning Elvis Tribute Michael King, regarded by many as the premier live Elvis tribute show in Europe.

Described by Elvis' step-brother and bodyguard David Stanley, as having "the moves, the looks and the voice," Michael King, together with Steve Halliday, are the closest audiences can get to witnessing the King's contribution to the world of rock 'n roll that has inspired so many others and is still being celebrated 33 years after his death.
