Kim Kardashian and Kanye West marry in Florence

The couple, dubbed Kimye, were married at the 16th-century Forte di Belvedere in front of 600 guests in a ceremony reported to have cost almost £11 million.

Amid tight security, the Kardashian clan arrived in two blacked-out cars just after 3pm. A woman, believed to be Kim’s assistant, got out of the first car – opening the back door – before fans and photographers got the briefest glimpse of Kim, who ran into the fort with her head bowed wearing a long, off-white silk dress with a V-neck and slit sleeves.

In the second car were numerous members of the bride’s family including the 33-year-old’s mother Kris Jenner, sister Kourtney and half-sister Kendall.

Rapper West arrived alone about 90 minutes earlier.

Crowds of excited fans greeted the 36-year-old, screaming as his car passed through security guards located at the entrance to the site.

Kim was later spotted pacing the grounds of Villa San Michele with her family just hours before the wedding ceremony, where the bride was given away by her stepfather Bruce Jenner.

Bags of clothing by designers Givenchy and Lanvin had been delivered to the hotel along with 1,000 bottles of champagne for the 600 guests.

The seven-tiered, six-foot tall wedding cake with white icing and gold ribbon around the edges was also seen being elivered to the venue.

According to reports, guests were given a £120,000 goody bag, containing vintage wine and handmade Swarovski crystal trinkets with the couple’s initials etched onto them.

Kardashian had three outfits designed for the big day, while her aunt, Karen Houghton, revealed the bride might even wear a crown because she was inspired by the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2012.

Guests at the wedding included best man Jay Z and Beyoncé, tennis star Serena Williams and fashion designer Donatella Versace.

West surprised his wife-to-be by having Lana Del Ray perform three songs at a lavish rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles near Paris on Friday night.

Fireworks went off over the Palace grounds during Del Rey’s performance as female musicians wearing Marie Antoinette-inspired frocks and wigs were seen preparing to perform. The singer is said to have bagged £200,000 for performing her hit Young And Beautiful, which is Kim’s favourite song, at the wedding.

The rehearsal dinner cost £1,500 a head and guests sipped vintage champagne costing £4,000 a bottle.

The Kardashians have been holed up in the £4,000-a-night George V hotel in Paris, while filming the build-up to the big day for their reality television show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

On Thursday night Kim enjoyed a champagne-fuelled hen party with her closest friends, which included a night tour taking in the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre museum.

The couple had originally wanted to marry at the Palace of Versailles, but chose Florence after being refused permission.

However, a modern-day descendant of the Medici family, which built the stunning fortress, slammed the event.

“Events like this represent a danger to the cultural integrity and historical authenticity of the city, which is protected, and could mean a possible loss of Unesco status or being placed on Unesco’s danger list.”
