Hollywood has fast and furious plan for Glasgow

Another Hollywood movie will be filmed in Glasgow this summer.

Shooting gets under way later this month for Fast 6, part of the Fast And Furious action franchise.

It comes around a year after the city hosted filming for World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, and Cloud Atlas, starring Halle Berry.

The Fast And Furious films have featured Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Paul Walker but none of the lead actors for Fast 6 will be in Glasgow for the shoot by the production’s secondary film unit. It will take place at night in Cadogan Street and the Broomielaw.

Around 250 local and out-of-town crew members will be involved in the shoot over late August and early September.

Glasgow City Council insisted that the filming will have a
significant economic impact on the city.

“We are very pleased to once again see a major film production in Glasgow,” council leader Gordon Matheson said.

“It is great to see the city
attracting another movie of this size so soon after our marvellous success in 2011, and I would
like to pay tribute to the contribution of our Glasgow Film
Office in bringing the production here.

“We look forward to seeing the Fast 6 shoots here and giving them a great Glasgow welcome.”

Glasgow Film Office was working with the production crew over the past few months to secure locations and to make arrangements with the relevant council departments.

Residents and businesses in areas where filming is taking place are said to have been consulted and will be notified of filming and production details.

Hollywood films and other broadcasting projects “generated £20 million for Glasgow’s economy” last year, according to Glasgow Film Office.
