Fringe 2010 poster is something to shout about

A SCHOOLGIRL'S stunning design of a Fringe performer shouting out about his show has won the event's 30th anniversary poster competition.

Morven Donald, 13, from Park Mains High School in Erskine, Renfrewshire, saw her artwork picked from more than 2,500 entries. Each year the winner becomes the official Fringe poster, selling thousands of copies to tourists, and featuring on postcards, magnets, mugs and T-shirts.

Second place went to 12-year-old Louise Mocogni, of St Margaret's School in Edinburgh, and third was Scott Geddes, 13, of Arbroath High School.

The Fringe Schools Poster Competition has seen more than 100,000 children from Shetland to Selkirk submit designs since 1980.

Fringe chief executive Kath Mainland said: "The image Morven created is vibrant, colourful and full of energy – everything the Fringe is."

The 2010 programme launches on Thursday.
