TV Pick of the Week: Homeland| You’ve Been Trumped| Painting The Queen

PICK OF THE WEEK HomelandChannel 4, today, 9pm

Poor Carrie. Everybody took her insistence that Brody was a baddie as the ravings of a lunatic, to the extent that the whole sorry episode drove her to the asylum. But we knew better, and we knew that the tape Brody made explaining his actions ahead of his botched attempt to blow up the vice-president would return to haunt him. That Saul discovered and watched the tape so unexpectedly at the very end of the last episode was a real treat for fans, but it was so clean and easy a discovery that something tells me we won’t see the net closing too tightly on Brody. Will Saul be able to let Carrie and the CIA know the truth before Brody acquires another bomb shirt from the explosives tailor? Will Carrie go back to spying instead of gardening? Will she stop pulling that terrible cry-face? The suspense is killing me.

Portraits of the Queen tend
to be either bad and
flattering or good and unflattering. This film
follows artist Phil Richards
as he paints a big, flattering, terrible portrait of Her Maj in which she looks a bit like a queen in a video game. What will she think of it? She never says, but I’m guessing that she probably prefers it to her lumpy likeness by Lucian Freud.
