Scottish production companies Create Anything and Channel X Hopscotch selected for Channel 4's Emerging Indie Fund

Channel 4's Emerging Indie Fund is an annual initiative looking to promote new and emerging production companies based beyond its home in London. This year, 16 companies from around the UK have been selected, with two Glasgow-based prodcos among them.

Two firms in Scotland have been selected to receive funding from Channel 4 via its Emerging Indie Fund for indie production companies based beyond London. The fund is aimed at supporting new and emerging production companies to keep creating diverse, engaging content – with those selected also offered mentoring sessions and advice from experts across different departments at Channel 4.

This will support Channel X Hopscotch, the result of the merger between independent production companies Channel X and Hopscotch in June this year, as well as BAME-led production company Create Anything.

Create Anything is the company led by BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and director Stewart Kyasimire, the man behind notable documentaries spotlighting black Scottish talent in the arts and culture, including Black & Scottish - featuring Scottish actors like Ncuti Gatwa.

Stewart Kyasimire commented:

"It’s a great pleasure to be selected as part of the Channel 4 Emerging Indie Fund. Since Black & Scottish was released in 2019 my team and I have worked very hard to make some great content under my company, ‘Create Anything’, releasing our first documentary in October with ‘Behind the Smile’ on BBC Scotland.

So it’s wonderful to see Channel 4 recognise our work and willing to support us going forward."
