Does it meet the required size dimensions, is it on a white background, do you look vaguely human in it?

It can be a daunting task - but one Scot had a brainwave when he couldn’t find a decent photo and simply sent in a picture of Chewin’ the Fat character Ronald Villiers.

The hapless actor, recognisable by his trademark fedora hat and scarf and represented by Widdecombe and Pump, was renowned for forgetting basic lines and infuriating directors and fellow actors alike.

Craig Baillie, from Dundee, tweeted a photo of his new railcard - complete with photo of Villiers - and added: “Can’t believe they actually accepted this photo and sent it out. Craig Baillie fae Widdecombe and Pump.”

The post has been retweeted more than 1000 times and has been liked by over 1500 people.
