A 70-year-old widower discovers that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

What is it?

Seizing an opportunity to get back into the world of work after an age-triggered sabbatical, Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro) becomes a (very) senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by a much younger Anne Hathaway, playing Jules Ostin.

What’s it about?

Life lessons will be learned in a feel-good comedy that casts a wry glance at ageism in the workplace. The plot seems to follow the “fish out of water/buddy comedy” formula, but the generation gap might at least make it refreshing.

Does it look any good?

While the trailer has some laugh-out-loud moments, there film might not house many more laughs than that – some early reviews suggest another middling comedy vehicle for Robert De Niro. But with two Academy Award-winners taking top billing, there’s some hope yet.
