Film history goes west

More than 100 years of filmed history is set to move from Edinburgh to Glasgow.

Culture secretary Fiona Hyslop yesterday announced a £250,000 contribution towards moving the National Library of Scotland’s (NLS) Scottish Screen Archive to Glasgow, as part of the planned redevelopment of the Kelvin Hall. Ms Hyslop said “This will develop a progressive research centre for this great collection of moving images.”

NLS holds more than 100 years of Scottish history on film and video, as well as a collection of documents on the history of film and cinema in Scotland.
