Stone is expected to discuss his new film Snowden, about the American whistleblower Edward Snowden, who leaked documents revealing mass surveillance programmes.

During his visit to Edinburgh, he is also expected to carry out workshops with some of the city’s film students.

Professor Chris Breward, principal of Edinburgh College of Art, said: “Oliver Stone’s ground-breaking work resonates across all of our world-leading film-based programmes and speaks to broader student and staff interests in politics, biography, documentary and the power of the media.”
