David Bowie film season on at Filmhouse

PLANET Bowie, a season of films celebrating one of the 20th and 21st century’s most iconic musicians, continues at the Filmhouse this evening with a one-off screening Labyrinth (PG).

Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy is just one of a series of Bowie movies being shown at the Lothian Road cinema until 4 April.

The season is the fourth of six specials the Filmhouse have produced in partnership with Drambuie, and also includes Bowie’s latest film, The Prestige, which will be screened next Thursday.

Other Bowie treats include Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ (18) on Sunday; Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (PG), which runs from 31 March to 11 April and Christiane F (18) on 4 April.

Rod White, head of the Filmhouse, says, “The release of his first album in ten years seemed like a great time to celebrate David Bowie’s film work.

“While researching the season, it was a surprise to us just how many films Bowie has been involved in, so we’ve kept it down to what we consider the best... though there may be a few more along in April.”
