Colin Firth shoots new film in Edinburgh

SCOTLAND’s credentials as a Hollywood hot spot were given another boost as Oscar-winner Colin Firth began shooting his latest film in the capital.

The star of The King’s Speech was spotted next to his make-up trailer on location in Craigmillar, sporting a moustache and glasses.

Firth and co-star Nicole Kidman are to host a press conference today to discuss their roles in a new film about Edinburgh-born prisoner of war Eric Lomax. Locations in the city will be used for The Railway Man, as well as North Berwick in East Lothian.

It is the latest in a string of Hollywood blockbuster movies shot in Scotland over the past year, after Brad Pitt’s zombie film World War Z, shot partly in Glasgow, Scarlett Johansson’s science fiction horror Under The Skin, Skyfall, Daniel Craig’s latest James Bond adventure, and Irvine Welsh’s Filth, starring Scots actor James McAvoy.
