Arts on the web: Pictish Trail | RM Hubbert

Each week we pick out one song and one video on the internet that has caught our attention...

Listen: A Pictish Trail Remix by Found

What do you get if you put singer-songwriter/Fence Records co-founder Johnny Lynch (aka the Pictish Trail) and experimental Edinburgh band FOUND in the same musical blender? Oddly, you get something that sounds like a cross between Babybird, the Beatles’ White Album and a malfunctioning alarm clock. It does, however, work very well. And it’s free to download from Soundcloud.

Watch: RM Hubbert’s New Video

Glasgow guitarist RM Hubbert’s new album, Thirteen Lost & Found, sees him collaborating with various old friends, including Arab Strap’s Aidan Moffat and Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, who appear together on album highlight Car Song. A short film to accompany the song is now online (pictured). Hubbert, Kapranos and Moffat are all absent; instead the film follows a man as he’s dragged through the countryside by a guitar lead plugged into his stomach. Where is the lead taking him? Find out in the film’s surreal, oddly poignant conclusion.
