HAS there ever been a better time to show your patriotic colours, and splash out on a little something red, white and blue?

With one royal wedding out the way already this year and another one fast approaching on the social calendar as well as the Queen's Garden Party, the Olympics next year, and now the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Edinburgh this weekend, the Union flag has never been so "on trend". Which is ironic, given the latest Holyrood election results.

But from cushions to picnic blankets, tea caddys to wall art for your home - there's a plethora of ways to show your pride in the Great British nation.

No doubt Scottish nationalists will think it's all a unionist plot dreamt up by David Cameron's interior designer to ensure that people feel a surge of pride when the Union flag is flying high . . . but they should take note of the old phrase which is also back in vogue "Keep Calm and Carry On".

Just as relevant today as it was during wartime - when people really were all in it together.
