DJ Culture - SAM SPENCER aka SHANKY B

Track of the month:

Conqueror - Highest Order

My most influential DJ is:

Andy C, back on the old Nightlife CDs. I was already DJing at the point I discovered these mixes and had never heard anyone like him before.

Best gig I’ve played in Edinburgh:

Big ’n’ Bashy last year at the Bongo Club. Love the venue, it’s like a home to me and Bashy has to be one of the most heavyweight nights in the city. Save the Bongo!

First record I ever bought:

Probably, Noisia/Noisia & Mayhem - Facade/Moonway Renegade on RAM records. The B-side still goes off every time.

All-time favourite record:

Supra1 – Ghoster. It’s only a year or two old, but it’s one of the first tracks that really opened my eyes to what I’ve been playing recently and I still play it all the time.

Catch Sam Spencer play 49hz on May 4 at The Annexe, alongside special guest Mosca (Radio 1/Fabric/Numbers). Doors open 11pm, entry is £7 before midnight, £8 after
