Daniel Sloss filming in Edinburgh for web series

The Fifer, now based in the city, is on a mission to raise funds for his latest project, the suspiciously named MUFF - an internet series he is working on with another Edinburgh-based laughter merchant, Tom Stade.

“We are crowd-sourcing the whole thing, so today we are asking for money. Begging people... instead of giving money to charity, give it to us,” he laughs. Explaining the concept of the series, he continues, “Tom plays the head of a television production company responsible for making some of the worst, generic hack television in the world... although it is extremely popular.

“Then my character comes along, a fresh-faced intern who wants to make TV shows, only to realise how soulless the whole thing is. How it’s just about ratings. The shows eventually cause the end of the world. It’s very dark and very funny.”

The series which will be filmed in and around Edinburgh is some way off yet, in the meantime there’s a chance to catch the 23-year-old doing what he loves best at Livingston’s Howden Park on Friday, and a day later at Musselburgh’s Brunton.

His new show, Really...?! sold more than 10,000 tickets when it premiered at the Fringe earlier this year, and is proving to be another hit for Sloss who started writing and performing stand-up aged 16.

And internet and live appearances aside there every chance you could see Sloss on TV screens again soon too. Currently signed to a development deal with

“I have a deal with Warner Bros and Conaco, the guys who Conan O’Brien Show, to come up with an idea. But I am doing more stuff in America because there are more opportunities to do stand-up on American TV and they get my sense of humour.”
