‘The Best Birthday Bike’ and ‘The Great Cycle Challenge’ are the first two titles in a series of four books planned so far. There will also be a non-fiction guide for children on cycling and how to maintain their own bikes.

Sir Chris Hoy’s cycling feats earned him six Olympic gold medals, making him Great Britain’s most successful ever Olympic athlete and surpassing rower Sir Steve Redgrave. He is also an eleven-time world champion and represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

Hoy, who retired from competition in 2013, claimed that his own cycling career was inspired after watching Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Both of the Flying Fergus books are set to be released February 26, 2016.
