Georgia Grace Monro, is the first baby to be delivered on the island since before World War II.

Baby Georgia made a quick appearance after her parents, Linzi Ferguson and Dave Munro, were leaving the house for Lorn and Islands hospital in Oban.

Linzi went into labour at 9am on July 22 as the couple reached their front door.

Dave sent for their neighbour, Dr Doerte Pfuetzner and soon after a midwife, paramedics from Oban and two air ambulance paramedics joined them in the tiny room.

A few islanders also came to help, bringing the total number of visitors to around 15 people - but Linzi didn’t even notice.

She said: “I was just concentrating on my breathing,

“I wanted a natural birth as close to home as possible - I certainly got that.

“I had an amazing experience; you could really feel the community coming together to help me and I thank them for that.”

After Georgia was born, three hours later, Linzi was flown to Paisley for post-natal checks but came home this week.

A proud Dave said: “I am absolutely loving having her at home.”
