Artist puts heart into new work

A GROUNDBREAKING art project celebrates the research by British Heart Foundation Scotland scientists in Edinburgh.

Mark Eischeid, a postgraduate student at Edinburgh College of Art, has created abstract artwork following a residency at the BHF Centre of Research Excellence at the University of Edinburgh.

It was designed to increase public awareness of heart disease and the research taking place.

Mr Eischeid's main piece of work is a blue watercolour that incorporates 22,000 rectangles, representing the range of scales that the scientists work with, "from molecule to man".
