Annie Lennox honoured for music and charity work

DRESSED head to toe in gold, Scots singer Annie Lennox was last night honoured for her contribution to music and charity.

More than 1,000 people attended a fundraising dinner where the former Eurythmics star was awarded the Music Industry Trusts Award for her charity work and achievement.

Sir Elton John and Adele were among the celebrities at the event in aid of Nordoff Robbins and the BRIT Trust.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu said: “She is one of those exemplary human beings who chose to put her success in her chosen career to work in order to benefit others.”

Lennox, originally from Aberdeen, said: “Music has given me a lifetime of experiences and opportunities that I would never have dreamed possible, and I feel very privileged to have been able to become an artist and communicator, especially as a woman.”
