Up and coming: Sarabeth Tucek

Who is Sarabeth Tucek?A Miami-born, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter turning heads with her recently released second album Get Well Soon.

What's her story?

Tucek first set out to be an actress but fell in with the notorious Brian Jonestown Massacre instead, sang backing vocals for Smog and began writing her own songs when she was in her mid-twenties. She released her debut album in 2007, winning accolades from Bob Dylan and Laura Marling along the way.

What about Get Well Soon?

The album is a meditation on her father, who died of a heart attack when she was still a child. She also lays bare a period of excessive drinking, driving offences and community service, distilling all the grief and chaos into a beautiful, burnished soundtrack which has attracted comparisons to Neil Young.
