Alex Salmond to feature in Kelvingrove heads exhibit

One of the more popular exhibits, the installation - by Sophie Cave - contains more than 50 heads each displaying different emotions such as happiness and sadness.

And now the former First Minister is to feature in the installation as part of plans for a new exhibition covering the referendum on Scottish independence.

Mr Salmond dubbed Glasgow ‘Freedom City’ before the historic vote, declaring that it would vote Yes, which it duly did.

Olaf Roslip, who will be overseeing the exhibition, told The Scotsman: “It seemed like a fun thing to do to promote the exhibition.

“Sophie’s installation is one of the first things people see when they come into the museum so we’re hoping it will encourage a lot of visitors to take a look at the exhibition.”

Covering the independence campaign, the vote itself and the aftermath, it is hoped the exhibition will boost visitors to the museum.

Sculptor Adam Tully-Petou added: “It’s definitely one of the stranger commissions I’ve received.”
